Happy Mothers Day!
I had a great weekend with my boys. We all went camping on Friday afternoon to Cunningham Falls State Park in Thurmont MD. It was a surprising success considering we had a 2 yr old and 3 month old. We were joined by Andy Meekins and his daughter Maple, and our neighbors the Crothers. Bennett had two other kids his age to play with and I think that was the key to everyone’s enjoyment. The kids played with sticks, dump trucks & flashlights, baby Coby laid around, and us adults unpacked – cooked – then packed again.

Saturday morning we did an easy hike to the waterfall, then had a picnic at the lake. Our timing was perfect – the park rangers read the kids a book on owls and then did a craft project with them. The playground and beach were another big hit for the kids. We left the park in the afternoon and were not out of the parking lot before Bennett passed out. YES!  This park in much better than I remembered and we’ll be back again for some paddling around the lake and summer play.

This is the 2nd weekend in a row we left on a friday night and returned saturday. I have to say it makes the weekend feel really long! It’s a mini vacation with Sunday still available for projects around the house. We really have done it this way because I teach a cycling class on Sunday mornings.

Today’s cycling class was great. Somedays I’m on fire and today was one of them! After class Dave and the kids meet me at Apollos for breakfast. We ended up randomly sitting next to a family we are friends with. They taught us how to play Keno at the restaurant. Our friends won $250 in their first shot. We failed all three times. Bummer! After breakfast, Bennett played in the fountain on the square and brought great joy to all the watchers. He was the only one crazy enough to get wet on a windy cold day. Later on we all napped, went to the garden/playground, and grilled.
