Drazen Certified

Baby Coby was born a month ago on Feb. 23rd 2010 at 12:55am. He was 7lbs 13 oz. I can’t believe it’s taken me a month to post the update to my blog. It’s been quite the blur, but I’ll try and recap the last month.

I went into labor around 10pm Monday night while we were watching the winter Olympics. Labor moved along so fast, that we could barely get Bennett to Cyril and Mary’s house and me to the hospital (and we live literally 3 blocks away). I had taken a hypnosis childbirth class and it was a little too effective! We got to the hospital after midnight and by the time I raced and cussed my way to the delivery table – I was 10 centimeters pushed twice and Coby was out. I had trained for natural childbirth, but deep down I didn’t think I could handle it without drugs. Ends up I had no choice and it hurt. Surprise – Surprise. Dave and I were in total shock that it was all over so fast. Labor went nothing like I had imagined and trained for. Baby Coby is perfect in every way and I recovered super fast like superwoman.

Dave’s parents visited immediately and helped out. After a couple of days, I got really sick with mastitis. Then Bennett got us all sick with some yucky dirty toddler cold. I was a total mess and then the Drazen’s tag teamed with my mom who came to help us. She left this past Saturday and now Dave and I are on our own as parents of two. Yikes! Coby is so easy – a good eater and sleeper. (but now he has Thrush – Yippee!) Bennett is a crazy two year old bouncing all over the place and saying things like he is going to “hit the baby”, but never does.

We are all adjusting well and I do pretty good at “napping” when I can. (which should be right now!!) That’s all I have time to say. But thanks to my support crew for getting me through the last month- parents, family, friends & Mom’s Club gang. bye bye!
